The right to vote is a duty and responsibility, as well as a privilege. Modern democracies, including the United States, extend the right to vote (suffrage) to almost all responsible adult citizens. This inclusive voting right is known as universal suffrage. Indeed, “one person, one vote” is seen as a hallmark of representative democracy.

Every U.S. citizen has the right to vote, and when given the opportunity it should be taken advantage of. By voting, you are participating in being a U.S. citizen. If one has a strong opinion on a certain subject or a person, it is important to let it be known.
